Yesterday just as the kids were about to get up from their nap I was contemplating what to do with them I had a brainstorm. First, I thought, I will trace them and have them color themselves. With their age it wouldn't take them too long to become bored with this task. I had to come up with more. What could I put with this? ... I remembered I have a book by Jamie Lee Curtis that I had not read in a good year. It is called I'm Gonna Like Myself. It is a book to boost children's self esteem. I traced around the kids on freezer paper. Then I read the story to them, told them what I liked about myself, then gave each one the oppertunity to tell me what they liked about themselves. Just to give them each a bigger boost I told them each what I liked about them also. Then I suggested that they give eachother a hug and tell the person that they liked them. This was a big hit. They love hugging eachother. We took all of the life size tracings to the driveway and they colored their paper doll. S and AR were the first to be done with little to no coloring. Not too surprising as they are the youngest. M was not being the oldest the task is easier. Then AP and finally G. G is a perfectionist in a good way. She took her time to do a great job. I cut each person out of paper and hung them on the garge wall. I had them stand next to their paper doll, another exciting thing.
... Today I have 3 paper dolls hanging in my house.
